Better GFX less stress on the CPU?

So if I had an Intel Pentium 4 @ 1.43GHz and I wanted to play BF2 at good settings could i get an better GFX to put less stress on the CPU?

What? I just read off the BF2 box... I don't care for P4's much anymore... Low-scale Core FTW!

Hey I'm keepin everything I got. I pick up old K5's every week somewhere, take give em home, fix em up, and use them as servers or F@H...

It actually plays with no lag (ha!) not even an noticeable difference between my 7300LE and E4300.. I have BF2 on an Sempron 2600+ (@ 1.6Ghz) and it runs great! Both have FX5200's and I think minimum was FX5700?

So, could SOMEONE please answer my question? And leave the requirements to me?

actually is the other way around. since the cpu can't keepup with the graphics processor. so the gpu will be waiting for the cpu :D

Eh... oh... darn :( Ah well he loves it anyways, can get an bit laggy at first, but when smooths out afterwards...

Soooo overclocking the GFX or upgrading itwill not help in any performance increase?

BTW - He has 512MB Pc100 Ram... (256, 128, 128)

That wouldn't work. The x server talks to your cpu, gets the data off the ram that it needs to render then back to your cpu to get "packaged" to be sent through your bus to you northbridge then to your GPU to get rendered. On top of that there are a ton of physics that needs to be processed. I dont exactly want to get into everything that needs to get processed by your cpu, but that's the most important aspects of it.

In short, no, it will not work. Your cpu will bottleneck. That and the bus is way too slow to process that much data.

If it was "way too slow" I doubt I could run it at around min : 20FPS max: 30-40FPS...

Im not saying anything like that. I cant give you numbers since i have never done it. I am just saying that the cpu does do a lot of behind the scenes work and so having a slow cpu wouldn't allow the gfx card to perform at its peak. No matter what gfx card you have it would still perform up to a certain speed and you wouldnt see a gain in upgrading it.

kof is right here, with a better gfx card, you'd set the game settings higher, wich means the cpu gets more to process too.

PS - It's an Skt 423 1.3GHz Intel Pentium 4 with AS5 and an stock cooler...

@ 1.43GHz overclocked. The next FSB would be an rather large jump, and the motherboard is the crappy ECS Elitegroup P4VSMS motherboard. How far do you think I can get with an better motherboard, AS5, and an aftermarket heatsink?
