Better YouTube playbacks

Is there a phone app that freezes the video when it starts to play, holds it frozen for awhile (say five minutes), then releases the frozen picture allowing it to continue? The purpose to this is to have longer, continuous playback of videos.

Can't you just start the video, pause it, then play it 5 minutes later?

As far as I know youtube will not buffer all of a video when it's paused, only a certain amount (for longer videos). It's in there best interest to save bandwidth where they can. I'm not saying that I like that they do that, but it does make sense.

Load up a long video, say 20 minutes or so. Hit play, then pause. You'll see the load bar only goes so far, then promptly stops.

Other video clients out there do fully buffer videos though. Youtube is an exception.

I'm aware about what you just related about buffers. Are there video clients that compete effectively with YouTube?

None can compete with Youtube, but there some other video websites like dailymotion for example (which is I think the biggest website after youtube for videos).
