Bettering my internet connection

Is there anything that can better my internet connection? My computer keeps losing connection a lot and I cant plug in a wire from my computer to the router because its all the way downstairs and someone is bound to complain about it.

Sounds more like a local issue with wireless signal strength or quality. Do your downstairs computers have the same problems? Usually you'll get poor coverage vertically since the elevation plane of most antennas are pretty limited.

Yeah the house was remodeled and they rehired the construction people to do the wiring and not actual people who know about wiring. And yes, anyone that is using the internet at home disconnect at the same time.

Any new systems on the network since the rewiring? Sometimes a bad network port and cause outages. What router do you have? Do you just reset router to get the connection back?
