There are people in California who claim to be working for Microsoft. They tell you that your computer has a very serious problem and they will fix it. I didn't let them go all the way but they want you to type in 'www.remote1.us' , I'm assuming they take control of your computer, plant a virus , then charge the owner to fix it. This is the second time they have called me. Is there anything we can do to put them in jail ?
 
That's a pretty well known scam and not really new. Good luck trying to track them down to put them in jail.
 
Yeah, this is a well known scam and has been around for a few years now. Really nothing you can do to track them down. Could report the phone number they are calling from but I'm sure that's already been done and nothing solved.

Was this a home phone or similar? Most of the time when dialing from your own DID to your own DID it will forward you into the mailbox of the number on mobile phones.
 
it was a spam call as stated with my home phone number showing up as the caller. Happened more than once also. think i mentioned before about a call that was different. Its the police dept and was a warrant out for my arrest. I have to pay now to keep from being picked up and arrested in the morning. You don't want to know what i told them. goes on all the time. Mostly we don't pick it up to answer. sometime we think we know who the caller is. and sometime its a mistake. happens often enough.
 
My sister in law received a phone call stating that she has a law suit from IRS and to call a # that they gave.
i keep getting calls from someone stating that I'm untitled to electric rate reduction and the only thing they request is the bill #,i tell them give me your # i will call back and they say never mind?

I got one of those fairly recently. "You have a warrant out for tax evasion!", probably not going to originate from that NY number since they wouldn't call to begin with you dick.

This is why I use a netbook that runs PhoneTray and I use Nomorobo as an added measure.

Make sure your voice mail has a password. This is one way to get in.

I have had a call with my own caller ID once as well. Now PhoneTray blocks it.
