BF2 will not start

I just got my notebook up and running yesterday and I installed BF2. When I start the game it loads the logo and goes to a black screen and flickers and kicks me back onto the desktop. I updated the drivers for both my video card and my audio and it still does the same thing. I called EA and talked to some idiot on the phone. We checked my Directx and my driver dates and everything was fine. Here is what I have in my notebook:

WUXGA 17 inch
AMD X2 3800+
nVidia 7800 GTX
2G RAM

He said that my video card is too new to run BF2. I felt like he just didn't want to deal with me so he came up with the first thing he could think of. My video card is too powerful to run BF2? What kind of crap is that? If anyone has any advice please let me know how I can fix this.

Did it run the fast time u loaded it? Graphic card too new HA... thats a good one. I don't think think that is the problem.

You might want to reuinstall bf2 after u reinstall all ur drivers. Something is missing.

It hasn't run at all. Empire Earth II runs and thats an old game. I've started from scratch several times. I rolled back all of my drivers and reinstalled the newest drivers and then installed BF2 with all of the patches and still it's the same problem. I'm looking for anouther driver now. Maybe I'll try and older driver and see if it works.

I updated the driver from 1

Still doesn't work. I even disabled the widescreen on the command line of the shortcut and still nothing.

Thanks for all of your guys help. After hours on the web last night I found out what the problem was. My screen is set at 61hrz and the game wants 60 so I changed the setting in the Video file to 61. Thats it it runs great.

Under my documents/battlefield 2 look for the video file and edit the hertz and then just save it and your set. I'm not on my computer right now or I would give you the link. I'll be on tonight. If your still having trouble let me know and I'll get it to you.
