im thinking about getting a BFG AGEIA PHYSX Accelerator (PhysX card)

now i know what your all gonna say, waste of money but from what ive seen on youtube it improves many games out there and pumps up frame rates and obviusly PHYSX effects.

im aware that my 8800GT has some sort of PHYSX onboard right but surely this isnt as good as dedicated PHYSX processor and its own 128mb GDDR3 ram?

Btw i can get a good deal on the card,at a mere £46

whast your opinions?

Buddy of mine doesn't like his...he spent about 80 USD for his and was pissed at the result. I am currently using it to try it out and I gotta say not to impressed.

Also I have run into PhysX issues in games like Mirrors Edge and a few others with freezes even after updating the PhysX drives.

So glad I didn't buy one because I had the same thought. Perhaps I am doing something wrong but I think the tech is to old for the newer versions of PhysX I know for a fact anything below the 200 series has a older PhysX engine that wont do some of the work the 200 series can do.

A good friend of mine built a computer when we got back from Afghanistan with a P5N-D, Q9400 and an eVGA GX2. He bought a BFG Physx card thinking it would be great. It ended up slowing it down. He tried everything for weeks and could never get it to run correctly. He ended up selling it on ebay for about 1/3 of what he paid for it. Don't be surprised if the results are disappointing.

no problem....I see where your coming from but for what they charge + its failed performance you would be better off selling your GPU and taking both items cash and getting a GTX 260 :D

A PhysX card ain't worth it, if you really want hardware PhysX your 8800GT should be able of handling it along the graphics, or you could upgrade your card to something like the GTX260 Core 216 and use your old 8800GT as a dedicated PhysX card.
