Big Computer Problems!

Hey guys, my friend has recently been having some trouble with his computer. I wanted to know if you guys could help me out.

He says that no matter how many times he reformats the HDD, he always has trouble with the Microsoft C++ and he gets the dreaded blue-screen (dun-dun-dunnnnnnnn:P )

He recently purchased an HDD from newegg and it is a Western Digital 250GB 7,200RPM. I have reason to believe that it is the motherboard but I need some second feedback on what you guys think. Could it be from excessive OCing? Or from downloaded viruses? He has a gigbyte motherboard, but I don't think that has anything to do with it...

Sometimes he can't even load windows and he has to select a chose that says "boot from network" (or something relatively close to that). I think he screwed up his PC OCing way too much... He just OC's when he is bored... idk

Please help and thank you!

First thing I thought of was RAM... But, does anything else mess up? If not, I wouldn't think memory would be a problem...

I assume the software works on other machines?

Well tell him to quit writing the code he's writing ... or at least quit compiling and running it :P

Well, tell him to stop OCing

Here are some guidelines:
1. Questions 101
2. Tell him to stop doing obvious dumb things like [1] making BSOD vulnerable C++ programs and [2] OCing
