Big enough PSU

burnitdown

I currently have a 300W psu that came stock on my HP Pavilion a1510n, its currently supporting a 7300gt and a gig of ram. Wondering if it would be able to support a 7600gt and 2 gigs?

Well I don't know the 12V amperage for the vid card. Not sure how i would find out. Newness doesn't make a difference in whether a 300W PSU would work then or now.

HP should have a 350w model that will go in. A 300w even with the older card there is still very skimpy since most manufacturers point to a 350w just for their boards alone. But HP is only listing the one 300w model supply in their replacements parts section.

Well its already supporting a 7300gt and I've never had any problems with it, is there a large gap between the power consumption of a 7300gt and a 7600gt?

Only about 10-15W, and the extra RAM will have a negligible impact on power consumption. I doubt you'd have any problems.

The amperage on the +12V rail (and all other rails) should be printed on the side of the PSU, all you'd need to do to check it is to take the side off the case, although this will likely void the warranty.

That was a mid range not high card. The information other then part number seen above was not shown at HP except for the replacement price. Often the tags with the wattage and other information are on the bottom or rear of a supply. But that will probably only show the total amount of amps and not break it down.
