Big headache after buying my Acer laptop - driver problems - no XP only windows 7

From my previous thread a few days ago i decided to buy the Acer 5742

It didnt come with an OS so ive had to install XP myself.

after lots of problems doing this, i finally get it sorted and put in the resource cd to get all the drivers.....

turns out these are for Windows 7 only!!!!


ive gone onto the acer support page for the laptop and it has a big red cross next to windows xp and vista.

Does this mean i can only use windows 7.

what do i do??? do i have to go get a copy of windows 7, or can i just install these drivers on my xp pro ??

the acer site says that it only supports 7. You could probably run XP if you look into a dual boot setup. You could load the drivers into 7 and run xp when you want to.
