hi there, i have a seriouslty bad probelm with my laptop.
i installed a fairly old game on my laptop and when i tried to play it my laptop completely froze i could do nothing apart from turn the power off. i rebooted my laptop and was able to get into windows. later on i tried to play anohter game but that also froze and now i get the "boot menu" when i boot up my laptop and i get the choice between "safe mode", "boot normally" and "boot from previous settings that worked". the only thing that would boot is safe mode.
but when the "boot menu" appeard some of the characters were not normal like some of the letters were replaced by numbers of wierd symbols.
can someone please tell me what is wrong and what i can do (the laptop is in my sig)!

Well either the game is not compatible with your current drivers, which I really doubt. The overheating could be an issue. What games are you trying to play?

Have you monitored temps? Maybe something is wrong with your GPU. Does this only happen when you start playing games or is it constantly unstable?

well i re-formatted the laptop and it seems to be working fine. to add on to what i originally said, whenever i would try and boot to windows it would show the windows load screen then the screen would get funny "dotted" lines across it and then go blank.....
but now i have re-formatted it it seems to be working fine :D

thanks for the comments anyway :D

ok i found out the problem is with the graphics card, i get the problem whenever i run a game or a graphics intensive program...the card just crashes...
could it be on the verge of failing or do i need new drivers etc??

thanks

Since its a laptop i would contact Fujitsu Siemens about geting it fixed. Just say its dead and they will most likely fix it if its still under warrenty :)

Well try new drivers- that should always be a first option. The 6800 is a powerful card, it shouldn't be giving you much problems running current games. It could be that it's faulty or over heating.
