Big problem with laptop..

Ok, i've been having this ongoing problem with my new toshiba, on vista.. Ever since around a month ago 20 seconds or so after i log in, a white earth with lines through it appears on my toolbar, as soon as this appears all functions to do with the computer are dead.. you cannot click anything on the toolbar anything on the desktop, and anything related to the core computer, (ex, My computer) folder simply does not respond..

If I open internet before the icon appears, i may use it but if i were to close it i would have to restart the account. The volume also does not work one the icon is present.

Try booting to safe mode and see if you can disable what ever might be running on the computer (what ever program the earth thing is)

look in msconfig for your start up programs. After the white world appears have you left your pc on for a couple of hours ...or less time and come back to see if the pc is now working, then try to see wat the icon is for...also look in add / remove programs for programs you did not install ...or you have no idea what they are

Another methods is to reinstalled Windows.When you can't solve this problem by your methods you can try this one .
