if i was in his posistion it think it would be hard keeping a job knowing that i had so much money and could go around the world and put it to good use. just think how far 1 million could go in a poor family of 5 in Louisiana.

There is always someone who could put money to use. You can't help everyone all the time. Sometime its best to let people do things for themselves!
 
Yeah I actually just heard about this on my local news, and it really doesn't surprise me. I mean, he founded the company in the 1980's......he must be getting bored after 20+ years of working at Microsoft. He's still Chairman, though. And, the local news said that Gates is worth an estimated $100 Billion :eek:!

I thinkt it would be ebtter to give 10 familys 100,000 then 1 milloin to one. 100,000 is plenty to start a life on, the family should be able to make it the rest of the way, and this way you could do it to hundreds of times more familys.
 
my example was how he can actual be of a bigger help to the world by personaly desiding where he sends his money. i highly doubt that he will give money directly to families. he will more than likely continue to do what he does now but on a greater scale. he will be more personaly involved is picking what groups he give his money to. im hoping he gives it scince R&D. he gives a lot to affrican ophanages and such.

I saw him on tv last night and they said he has dontated over 30 billion dollars to charity and the work he does with them.

he worked hard for that 100billion its his right to do with it what he chooses. 1 billion for yourslef should go a long tho.

I think he is currently worth around $40 Billion.

Lets say, according to you, he should give away half of his earnings to charity... Do you give half of your earnings to charity?

Lets not forget that his $40 Billion is not in cash. It is tied up in assets and investments. Until you give 50% of your paycheck to charity, I believe you do not have a leg to stand on, so to speak.

As for me, I give about 5% of my paycheck to charity.
 
He gives most of his money to charity, ofcourse some money needs to be invested back into the company.you shouldnt say that hes a bastard, he gave so much to the charity instead of buying other stuff or other companies.
