My brand new computer can not find the SATA HDD after shutting the computer down. It freezes and says DISK BOOT FAILURE... but when I do RESET after this, everything works well and I can get to Windows without any problems.
There is only 1 IDE cable connected, and this is DVD-ROM. Hard drive is SATA and there is everything alright with it, otherwise BIOS couln't find it after RESET.
if you have other sata cables try those; if not check the connections. if this doesn't help i would consider updating your bios and your sata bios if possible
I've had this problem once before. It turned out that the drive I was using was a SATA II drive. If you have a SATA II drive and your mobo doesn't support SATA II you will need to change the jumpers on the drive. The instuctions on how to do it with a Western Digital drive are located here. Also, is your SATA hard drive on a RAID port? If so, try it on one of the ordinary SATA ports.
