Bios not found

I'm going over to my friend's house today to take a look at his computer, but I figured I should ask you guys what you think first. I don't have much information yet, but all I know is that when he boots his computer - he gets the following:

Ultra 66 Bios not found. Os not found.

OS not found I understand, but what of the BIOS message? As far as switching the boot order of the drives (so as to boot from the Windows CD), he tells me nothing loads at all and it still displays the BIOS message.

Important fact, he tried upgrading to a Pentium 4 processor (from a 3), and then all this started happening. Did he fry something? Just knock a wire loose? What should I be looking for?
 
Can be a bad bios which is really hard to fix or it can be as simple as the motherboard not supporting the cpu which then the bios might have to be upgraded. Logically that would only work if they added support for pentium 4 in any of the newer bios versions for the motherboard.

What motherboard is he using? Im not sure if older board are still supported depending what company made it.

Supposedly he tried putting the old CPU back in and it still won't load.

Not sure about the motherboard he's using and can't contact him ATM.
 
Check the HDs and all. Does he have any type of PCI IDE controller (as in an additional one) or any type or RAID controller(either onboard or an additional PCI card?) Ultra 66 probably referrers to an Ultra ATA66 IDE controller or some sort.
 
The Processor is probably not supported or either needs a bios update. Try reseting the CMOS/Bios by the jumper on the board or take the battery out for a few minutes-either of these needs to be done with it off and unpluged and see if it will boot up with the old processor.

This sounds like an idea. However, what do you mean by the 'jumper'?
 
There should be 2 or 3 pins near the battery with something like CMOS RESET next to them. If there are three pins you just move the jumper over then move it back or if there just 2 pins you put a jumper on it, then remove it.

Its like a switch. There are 3 metal prongs sticking out, and two of the three are connected via a metal jumper that generally has black plastic on the outside. Say the jumper is on the left and middle prong, you could slide it off then put it on the right and middle prong, and it will do different things.
