I need to disable my onboard video but I do not know how to get to the bios. Can anyone help me go through the steps to disable onboard video?
Thanks

You should be able to do it by right clicking My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager and then find you onboard video and uninstall it.

That does not disable the hardware...

All computers are different. Typically it's located somewhere in the bios under say integrated peripherals. Sometimes it's located under the shared memory options(like disabled, 16MB 32MB...) But it really depends on whatever the manufacturer felt like doing :P

where would i find the shared memory option????? Also, if i try to do what the first guy said by going into the device manager... should I install the card first before or wait until I uninnstall it??

In all of my computers you hit delete on start up to get into BIOS. From there you go to basic settings then locate "primary video adapter", from there you select on-board, PCI-, or PCI-E. All BIOS screens are different though.

In some computers its F2 to get into the BIOS, but disabling your onboard graphics card is definitely there. Some motherboards initialise the onboard graphics last so they automatically look for other graphics cards before starting up the onboard one.
