Hi guys,

Well i have an Asus A8V mobo and decided to use the asus updater for the bios so i updated to the 288 version of the bios, now when my computer boots up it says
"USB device over current"
System will restart in 15 seconds.

So i have nothing connected to the usb ports, and just my front 2 usb connected to the mobo. Whats the deal? Can i reset my bios? im not sure but i was going to make a dos floppy boot from that and see if it will update to the original version. would it work?

Thanks for any info!!

taking out the cmos battery? and no power right?

Nope. There should be 3 pins near the battery that are covered with a plastic jumper. It should be labeled "CMOS" on the board. Move the plastic jumper cover from the two pins already covered to the pin that is opened and the one that was covered before. Ie if the cover is on the middle and right pins, place the cover on the middle and left pins. Then wait 30 seconds and replace the cover where it was previously.

Check here if you need further instructions: http://www.dewassoc.com/support/bios/bios_password.htm

Another thing to check might be the front USB ports. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, and I did everything to try and fix my USB ports. Finally, I disconnected my front ports from the motherboard. It turns out they died, and were causing all my USB devices to glitch and freeze the computer.

Well i had it working by doing the reset, but i blew all the dust out my case brought it back in and tried to boot it up, USB device over current status, so it may be my front usb. because i've disconnected every usb device i have cept my keyboard. then i used a ps2 keyboard. Same thing happens. im lost. Ill try the fronts, see if that fixes anything
