I thought you looked familiar. I knew there was someone I forgot that didn't get the Welcome to the Computer Forum! http://www.computerforum.com/70672-official-welcome-thread.html You still need to remember to review the http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

The first thing to look at if either of those hard drives is an ide type and not a sata drive is the jumper setting on that as well as the one or more optical drives you have installed. The master is always plugged in at the end of the ide cable. That's critical especially for optical drives while in some complete and in some circumstances the cable select will work for hard drives.

The first thing to do there once you have the planned host drive if an ide type set as master on the primary ide cable. With two ide drives if both are set the second as slave to the host there and plug the optical as master on the secondary cable. In the bios setup program entered when first turning the system on scroll over to the boot devices section to set the cd rom as the first there.

Once you have the hard drives item highlighted there press the enter key to see the hard drives listed and the cardbus item as well. To choose which drive will be first and default simply highlight that one and use the + or - keys on the Numpad to see that made the first in the order there. Then exit the bios by pressing F10 or choosing the exit and save option. Note pressing F8 on some boards when the option to enter the bios setup is the option also seen for the boot menu available then. The later to come F8 menu is the Windows version once the post tests are completed.

Right now my computer isn't even telling me that I have a cd drive or a floppy. Every time I go to boot cd drive I'm left with an error message. I'm not getting power the the cd drive or the floppy so i can't load anything on to the hard drive. My hard drives seems to be working correctly and I have all the IDE cables set up correctly I just can't boot my DV/cd drive or my floppy drive.

Have you got any reaction at all from floppy?
Check the PSU:
connections and make sure it's working properly (PSU).

If you are not even seeing the drive lights blink when first turning the system on the secondary ide controller and floppy controller could be either disabled or non functional by the sound of that. You could simply need a bios update if that wasn't flashed fully at the factory or the board itself is bad. The one thing you can try is going into the bios setup if you can get in there and see if either is disabled.

I'm thinking I might have a bad mother board. Nothing is disabled yet nothing from my IDE cables are being read and power is only going to my hard drives which also go undetected my by bios. I've changed my cords, played with the bios and still my bios can't find any of my hard drives (3) nor my DVD/CD drives (2) or my floppy drive (1) so I guess its time for me to invest in a new mother board...

thanks for all your help guys.

That sound about right unless the original bios was...? foobar from the factory. Some vendors will recommend trying to update the bios to see if that's where the problem is before having it sent back. Let them worry about it!
