Bios problem

Troublesome

If i reset the Bios to default, the computer powers on, the bios beeps, and it loads into windows.

But, if i then turn it off and back on, there is no bios beep, the monitor stays in standby, and nothing loads.

I then have to use the jumpers on the motherboard to reset it to default again, before it will load up once more.

Any ideas about what is happening, or how to fix this? :(

I don't want to keep having to reset the bios, as the system date keeps going back to Jan 1 2004 >_<

Sounds like a jumper problem, make sure you have all the jumpers in the original spot;)

Just a thought....depending on how old the computer is, the CMOS battery might be failing (or it might be dust or dirt). I hope you can replace the battery with a new one.

normaly if the battery is messing up the bios will tell some kind of error and i agree with bunchofstuff that u should check and see if ur jumppers are in the right spot, u may have to refer to a user's manual to get all default settings
