BIOS problem

Im trying to install windows on a new computer I put together. It doesn't seem to recognize that I have a CD in the cd drive. It says its searching for the boot record on the floppy drive. So i went into BIOS and selected the CDROM as the slave master. It then tried searching the CD drive for the boot record too but this didn't work. So i turn the cdrom thing off in bios. Am I supposed to install something through floppy before I can install windows thru the cdrom?

OK, u shouldn't change anything on the first page of the BIOS that displays Primary master, slave etc, if the BIOS recognizes the CD-ROM. You should go to the boot page, and change the boot priority there.

If ur BIOS really doesn't recognize the CD-Rom, change the channel that the cd-rom is installed on to cd-rom instead of auto detect. If that doesn't work, you should check if the jumper setting at the back of ur cd-rom is correct. Or ur cd-rom may be defective.
