BIOS upgrading

how do you know when you need to upgrade your BIOS. and does an upgrade do anything significant for your system? oh, and how can i tell if i have flash BIOS?

only upgrade if you face problems... or if the new bios gives a performance boost, or better cpu support... read the release notes for the bios file.

nowadays a flash chip is a standard. so i think your motherboard already has one.

Newer BIOS revisions usually just add support for newer CPU's, and occasionally may add a few options in the BIOS and/or fix some bugs. However don't expect a performance boost with a new BIOS.

If you are upgrading from an initial release BIOS there might be improvements for overclocking stability and what not that will indirectly give you a performance boost but with everything stock I would agree that it's very unlikely that you will get a performance boost.

BIOS files are specific to a motherboard.
