Ok, I FINALLY got my computer running (newegg gave me a doa component), and now I'm at the bios screen. It says insert boot disk. What does this mean?
Should I insert the vista cd? Do I need to do anything to customize the bios stuff? I don't plan on OC'ing yet, for now I just wanting a working system. Any input is appreciated!

Yes, insert the Windows DVD. In the BIOS, set the DVD drive to boot first in the boot priority.

The Windows installation should be automatic. If you've installed Windows before, you can figure it out. :)

Therein lies the problem. Unfortunately this is my first build. I was assuming the Vista install would be rather self-explanatory, similar to any other software install. I do have a bit of affluence with computers and software, but nothing too substantial. I guess I'll just post if I run into any problems.

Vista like any other O/S is almost self-install. It only stops for the COA and time/date and stuff. Very easy to install. It's that partitioning part that you need to watch out :)
