I got a computer that belonged to a business or school or somthing. and the BIOS is locked. I can get into it, but i cant change anything, and most of the options are grayed out. I need to change the boot order, because they dont have it booting to the hard drive... can anyone help me?

It said password and i just pushed enter... and it let me in.... does that mean that its still password protected?

I know you can clear the password if thats all i need to do...

I know with some older Dells, you have to short a spot on the board to clear a system PW.

well, im A+ certified, and when i took the class they said to take out the jumper for the bios, but nothing happened when i did.... so im not sure.

It depends if its a user set pw, or locked bios from the manufacture

If it's grayed out then it sounds like the feature is just not available. You shouldn't be able to get in at all if you entered the wrong password.

What kinds of options are you trying to change that are grayed out?

I need to change the boot order. i can move over to the boot menu, but cant go down to change any of the options.
