it looks good when you force everything to the max in he nvidia control panel 3d option.

Yeah, I'm not sure if Cheese is being serious or not. I mean, what amazing looking game has he played that all of us haven't? The truth is, BioShock has the most realistic water and fire effects to date. I agree that they don't look 'as if real' but they are still the best seen in a game thus far.

It says this game is "powered by Unreal technology" on the loading screen... does this game use the Unreal Engine 3?

Ok, Cheese is not the only one that doesn't like it. The water looks pretty good, especially when it rushes in the building. The fire is about what I expected. I just feel that the game was really overrated, I can play in DX10 and it was really like a DX9 game with more shader usage. I don't like it b/c it's just plain wierd, I don't like the objective, I don't like going around killing freaks, and it makes for good gameplay. But, IMO, it makes for a "crap-catching" story-line.

Yes, it does, it needs a bit more tweaking before it goes to other games.

I see where you're coming from. Although I don't get the term "crap-catching".

Like shooting down freaks and stuff, certain ppl(me) don't like it b/c of that. I know other ppl have a taste for that and like, that's fine, I am just not "other ppl".

Oh right. Now I understand. That was my biggest gripe with FarCry. Mutant monkeys ruined the game because your only tactic was to hit them with everything you've got until they're all dead. With the splicers in BioShock, I don't mind it so much because you have a million different ways of taking them down. To each their own I suppose.

Anybody played it, worth getting, I'm thinking about it!

Definately. The story is pure genius and the game is incredibly fun to play. But be warned, it's quite addictive. I've clocked up over 5 hours today alone. For me that's a lot.

Oh and just to confuse you, I'm going to tell you a phrase which has massive significance in the game, but you won't realise it until about 2/3 of the way through:

"Would you kindly..."

Listen out for that. :D

dude, a plain crashes, theres a freaking tower in the middle. "oh hay, look at that! i should go i it" then a pod that brings you to hell "oh look at this! I didn't buy it through Steam, so I can't use it can I?

Yes, bioshock can be bought on steam. All you would have to do is download steam, install bioshock using the existing key you bought with the physical copy.
