Bit Defender?

Hi,

At the moment I have Zone Alarm firewall, Avast anti-virus and Windows defender.

But, I have been offered Bit Defender Internet Security 2008 by a friend.

My question is, do you think I should use this insted of the progrmas I have running at the moment, and if so should I keep any of the other ones on.

Also, any advice you have about getting other selections of software, to protect my PC toher than the ones I have now is appreciated (i'm looking to upgrade my security software).

Thanks in advance

Well, Avast is great, Zone Alarm I guess isn't bad aswell, but why not upgrade the Bit Difender? I don't like Bit D. personaly, but every upgrade is better than the previous version :P

If those are the free versions (zonealarm, avast) I would "upgrade" to BitDefender, If he's offering it to you free. Very good AV, or so I hear, but I dunno about it's firewall support.

Bitdefender is an excellent antivirus program, the only gripe i have with it is that it produces a few more false positives than other AV's.. Still, I'd rather go bitdefender than a free AV...

Ok, thanks for your answers so far.

I have now installed bit defender, but was wondering:

How much of a resource hog is the aggressive protection level which scans incoming HTTP traffic along with others?

And is it worth having it turned on?

Thanks

The aggressive level scans all incoming packets, email, using a high level heuristic method. It's like setting your security level to "high". As to how much resources it takes up in this mode, I'd say more than the lower levels.. as aggressive is scanning in real-time. Keep an eye on it I guess, I'd say it's worth it though.
