Bit of a strange problem......

Hi,
When i tured my computer on today, it got to the windows loading screen and an error showed up: (I took a pic of the screen, cant be bothered writing it all down :P )

So i hit the reset button, and tried to get into the BIOS. It froze. Hit reset again, this time the safe mode etc screen came up. I went on the "last good configuration ect" mode. It froze again, this time with:

It never went past the BIOS screen this time. Reset again, then another error:

So, reset again, safe mode screen, and it worked in safe mode. I ran chkdsk, and nothing came up.

I then restarted and booted into windows normally. Im now using it, and nothing has happened (yet)

What do you all think is the problem? I CANNOT run memtest, my floppy drive doesnt work.

It did something simmilar yesterday, but it only came up with an error once, but restarted straight after (I had the restart after an error option on, afterward i turned that off)

Any ideas?

Oh No, not again, damn that "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" extremely common problem, i had it for ages when i built this system, got over that prob though.

It has to do with device IRQ numbers clashing, click START - RUN - type "msinfo32" - hit enter...... when its finished loading the little box browse to........ HARDWARE RESOURCES - IRQ's take a screenshot and post it up here.

Also, you might want to update your BIOS to the LATEST version, checkt he manufacturers site for critical patches/updates aswell.....

Ive just done the BIOS update, its now using the very latest 0905 version.

The picture on my camera want clear at all, so i took a screenshot:

It froze once while i was checking my router (BT DSL status) and it froze when i went onto that. Apart from that, fine so far.

try lowering the frequency, if your system starts working i would say a memory problem.
then you have to start swapping ram around to see which stick is the problem

Yeah, its been suggested to me before that the RAM might be corrupt, probelm is, i cant run memtest, and i have no DDR2 at all (and dont know anyone who has some) to test. Im running at 3.4Ghz right now, and have been for the past few days. In fact, the only thing ive done on the computer recently is play BF2.

EDIT: Im running all the latest drivers, BIOS, windows updates etc.

Ive been playing BF2 for a while now, and theres been no restarts etc. It only seeems to be when the computer boots from off.......

No i have the same problem with the bt dsl. I had to phone bt to get driver updates or if the modem got upset it would crash the pc like that.

No, the voltages are ok:

+3.3v: 3.1v
+5v: 5v
+12v: 12.16v

And you can update the drivers for the BT router, you have to go to the routers IP etc.

If you have access to a CD-R drive, you could download Knoppix Live! and boot that up... hit F2 at the options screen and select memtest from there, IIRC.

How did you test those voltages? If through software, you might want to recheck that with a voltmeter of some sort.

Memtest also has downloadable ISO images that can be burnt to a CD. If you have a CD burner, i'd try this first, as bad RAM is the most common cause of this error.

I did try that memtest ISO, but when i burnt the disk using "make a bootable cd" in Nero, it said you get a boot image from a floppy, or use a standard boot. I seltect the standard boot option, but it doesn load up memtest.

The probelms seems to have gone away for now, but ive got to find out whats causing it for future referance ;)

Well, after a long spell without the errors, my computer froze today. I was only browing the web, and bang.

Screenshot:

Any suggestions?

'd be surprised how random crashes due to memory errors can be. when i was having problems i would crash quite infrequently but would experience a decrease in performance. its definately worth investigating just to make your computing experience more reliable

i had this problem for a long time couldent work out what was wrong with it

this is what i did go to you bios, advance bios if your video card id agp it might be set as pci thats what was wrong with mine i changed that worked perfectly

Bu you cant have a AGP card on a PCI express slot! (Unless you mean a Standard PCI, the you would be right)

You effectively cannot do this either.

Just for reference sake, check your memory temps (either by probe if you have it or by feel)

OK, Ill try the memory heat test later. It crashed again this morning, it only seems to do it when its first booting up. I found a RAM test program that can run under windows, but its also called MemTest. Is it made by the company that does the Bootable MemTest?

LINK: http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

Its running at the moment, and reccomends at least an hour, so ill leave it for two to be sure, then run Prime95.

You're better off running the boottime
