bit torrent

i downloaded a few torrent programs, but none of them seem to work. I download the small torrent file, it loads up fine, but it doesnt download. Once i got it to download a few KB's, but it was going extremely slow. Anyone know how to fix this?

it downloads at 0KBps, i was wondering if there is a special port i need to use. Anyone have any good ones that i could try?

personally, i use azureus and bit comet. azureus has a port test that wiull telll you if the programs open.

and also, how many people are you connected to when you download?

you mean for the file or on my network? If on my network its 2. If you mean from the file im downloading, it didnt show any. But couldnt that be because the program cant access the internet?

if you have a router you'll need to manually open the ports according to what port the program is set at.

im on my router now, but its stupid and doesnt work with port forwarding, i will try it by connecting directly to my modem, but only if azureus doesnt work.

ya, it didnt work, i tried it with the same port as AIM, but still no success. I guess i'll just stick with regular downloading and stuff.

no u have to set it in the router if you have one. also u'll need to check ur ip if it is a local one at 100 or 101 something like that makes a difference.

when i use bitcomet, i set a 12841 port then i set same number 192.168.1.100 at 12841-12841 at the application and gaming.

i went into my router and i set it for port 6881 (which is what it was set at), and i used my ip 192.168.2.3 (which is what my connection is now), set the port forwarding to TCP and still no luck. DMZ is also set, but no luck.

i use the deafualt, www.bittorrent.com. i always get around 70kb/s sometimes if im lucky it will shoot up to about 110kb/s but averages at about 80.

Just for the record, i m behind a router and i didnt have to do anything to get the client to work.

To paraphrase what everyone has said, if you are behind a router, you have to open ports accordingly. Make sure you do not have any software firewall running and if you do to either close it or allow bit torrent to bypass as an exception. The other critical aspect in terms of dl speed is the amount of seeders/leechers. The more there is, the faster it is gonna go.

It sounds as though they're just weak seeds. Or the Uploaders have a limited bandwidth and it's being dispersed among the leachers. Can you see in the columns how many connected seeds/leachers there are?

Find a good torrent site

You need to go to a site like mininova.biz and find the highest number of "seeds" and "leech" for the download in question. More seeds and peers equals higher share therefore you can connect to more peers and get better download thoroughput.

Why are you bringing back such an old thread? I already solved this problem.
