Bizarre Issue

Computer specs in sig...

I had the computer on for about 6 hrs straight. Checked on it about every hour or so. Checked temps thru (speed fan) and the CPU temps never exceeded 32C.

Now all I was doing on the comp was downloading large data files (thru a legit server) so thus the computer was on for an extended amount of time. I then checked the computer about an hour later and I came into a "froze" machine with no access & my LCD 19inch monitor appeared to look like static. (like a tv without cable).

Does anyone have any idea on what caused this issue or possibly pin-point what hardware is doing this?

Thanks in advance!

has your computer been doing this repeatdly, could be a program making your system lock up, you could try running a registry cleaner, also maybe your computer is going into standby for some wierd reason and then it won't come out, although i've only heard of this issue on older versions of windows such as 98 where standby mode never worked like it was supposed to.

Thanks for the quick responce.

Standby is not on. Only programs that were running was mozilla firefox using the net to download legit data files.

i was thinking it might have been one of programs running in the background such as windows processes, i'm not sure what else it might be other than a program locking up, either that or it could have been something with the file transfer

Any other ideas??? File transfer is now complete and there is no corruption. Which makes me to believe that it could be a possible OS failure. Is there chance that it is a hardware failure (i.e. LCD monitor?)

Thanks in advance

i doubt it had anything to do with the monitor, sounds like an OS problem to me, but you could always attach it to another computer for a while just to be sure

it could have something to do with ur graphics card or ur monitor, both r possibillities. i would try hooking the monitor up to a different pc, and if that dosen't work, then u kno its not ur graphics card and is definitely the monitor.
