Black flashes

I'm having trouble with games when I have a second monitor connected. What's happening is that the screen flashes black quite frequently even if I have the second monitor disabled but connected. I've been searching for an answer but I just can't find anything for XP, only for Vista.

Does anybody know how to fix this since it's quite annoying to have to shut down the computer and disconnect the 2nd monitor in order to play and then shut down and connect it back when I need to use it.

Try a different viewing mode, clone, dual, etc

I don't think so; when I had our old HDTV hooked up dual-screen the same thing would happen.

hmm then i can't help much =(

I never did find out what the problem was, I just gave up because it looked terrible anyways. I was using a CRT and the text was horrible. I do remember It only happening in clone mode i think.. May be wrong it has been awhile.

I didn't have this problem when I had my TV hooked up via S-Video cable.
