Black friday exlcusive, need advice

I got this on black friday 'in 09. I really feel like the graphics are lacking and have read online its just isn't built right.

The main problem is games (World in conflict, Company of heroes) run like absolute crap (somewhere in the 1 fps range...).

So I'm considering tuning it up if I can. What would you suggest?

My thoughts: Get a better cpu and graphics card. I've heard bad things about athlon and windows rates the graphics card as 3x worse than anything else.

You have onboard graphics and would need to get a dedicated graphics card. You have an open PCI-express slot for a dedicated card. What kind of games do you play and what could you spend on a card?
 
Alright, what would you suggest? Would this be hard to install?

I was hoping to get some better games after I bought this. Right now I play Company of heroes, World in conflict, and Cod, which work alright on my laptop but just don't look nice.
 
It kind of depends.... I mean the whole thing was $500 and came with a nice 20" moniter. Maybe >$200
 
10amps and its internal. took forever to find but there was a little sticker on the cord ^^

Sounds small to me...I think I was fooled by the 8gb and 1tb hdd
 
Need more info than that. The model number of the power supply would help tremendously.
 
Yeah, you'll have to open the case and look at the power supply. It should have a sticker with a model number on it. Most likely you will have to put put in a better unit.
 
Is a power supply hard to install?

Well in the link i posted earlier it mentioned a certain size or series fit.

I also read somewhere on google that all my PCI slots are 2.0....whatever that means....

not at all. Unhook your old power supply, undo the screws on the back and take it out. Put the other in, screw it in and hook up the leads. You will have 1 big one to your motherboard, 1 smaller one to your motherboard, 1 to each hard drive, one to each optical drive and depending on if your card needs external power, however many your graphics card needs
 
the guy on the hp fourm (the link) said it fit. I assumed that meant in the case and in the slot?

how about the powersupply? would it be enough if i wanted to do future
upgrades?
