Black Screen Before Windows7 login

So, this all started with me waking my computer up one night with my keyboard, it reacted weird, my keyboard stopped responding so i shut off the computer.
Its a blur now but i remember finally getting it to boot correctly, i'm thinking it was after the latest nvidia update, this was last Friday June first. But i personally doubt that this is a problem with the graphics drivers because today in safe mode i tried a fresh install of the drivers to no avail.

Anyway, that Sunday i was watching Netflix and my screen had went to sleep during my full screen playing, it happened before that night so i quickly hit space to wake it up and after doing this i got an annoying repetition of the noise that was going on in the show i was watching and then a reboot.

This is where the problem became more predominant. Monday i didn't do much with the tower and Tuesday i turned it on and it worked great. today, it began looping again, i restored as far as i could, before the graphics update to no avail. i then went into safe mode and ran all my anti virus and found nothing. after looking for suspicious files for a bit (also ran ccleaner) and then finally shutdown the computer and then rebooted. this time instead of a loop i got a black screen and my mouse icon, not flashing, but in full movement. after that i just held the power button and shutdown. i then messed around in safe mode some more and couldn't think of anything to do but this. i can get the hijack this report but i don't think its relevant. but again im not the expert. the computer in question is my personal computer, the one in the description. ALMOST FORGOT, somewhere in there, i think on Tuesday, i was watching full screen youtube and got the annoying repititon of noise again and then a black screen, then the error message that windows had recovered from a nvidia driver crashing. thats the only think making me think this might be a driver issue. but on the other hand it could also be a virus.

In conclusion i appriciate any help, or time given here.

I doubt this is a virus issue. Have you tried doing a system restore back to a day when everything was working correctly? If everything was fine before the driver update, then we must assume the new driver is causing the issue. You may have to download and run driver sweeper in safe mode and then install the latest drivers. Do you have another video card to test?

I restored back as far as possible, and there is an on board card on the motherboard. the latest drivers are installed according to nvidia, enless there are some beta drivers that i don't know about.

But what I'm saying is that sometimes the new drivers cause issues and then even doing a system restore can't fix it. Do you remember what driver was installed before the update? Go into device manager and rollback the driver and see what happens.

The rollback option isnt available. but the date on the driver is 5/15/2012 if that helps at all. oh and if i remember correct the driver was 297.17, thats striaght of memory. the 297 part im almost positive on though

After copying the exe to a flash drive, because my tower wouldnt follow the link correctly, i uninstalled the graphics card, and the driver and booted, it went into windows and i installed the driver you gave me. it finished and required a restart, i restarted. it looped and now im in safemode with networking. While in windows it felt painfully slow. Now that im in safemode, its telling me its recovered from an unexpected shutdown? even though i choose the restart button through the nvidia window.

Ok, lets do one scan and see if you have an mbr infection. If not, then you may be forced to do a fresh install of windows.

Please download and run TDSSkiller

When the program opens, click on the start scan button.

TDSSKiller will now scan your computer for the TDSS infection. When the scan has finished it will display a result screen stating whether or not the infection was found on your computer. If it was found it will display a screen similar to the one below.

infection-found.jpg

To remove the infection simply click on the Continue button and TDSSKiller will attempt to clean the infection.

When it has finished cleaning the infection you will see a report stating whether or not it was successful as shown below.

scan-completed.jpg

If the log says will be cured after reboot, please reboot the system by pressing the reboot now button.

After running there will be a log that will be located at the root of your c:\ drive labeled tdsskiller with a series of numbers after it. Please open the log and copy and paste it back here.

already ran that ): and i lost my 7 cd to flood loss. i can borrow a friends but do you think windows will give me another key?

If you lost your cd, you must use the same version of 7 that is now installed and you use your key to reinstall.

What about an online scan?

Please download and run the ESET Online Scanner
Disable any antivirus/security programs.
IMPORTANT! UN-check Remove found threats
Accept any security warnings from your browser.
Check Scan archives
Click Start
ESET will then download updates, install and then start scanning your system.
When the scan is done, push list of found threats
Click on Export to text file , and save the file to your desktop using a file name, such as ESETlog. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
If no threats are found then it won't produce a log.

Scan just finished finding nothing. i think im off to best buy to get an external hard drive so i can move my music and such over without loosing it. john i appreciate the help, i've said it before your one of the main reasons this forum is so great, you've helped me numerous times and i'm actually learning some from the things your telling me. again thanks for your time. sucks we couldn't figure this one out.

EDIT i lied (: it found 2 things so far. i assumed since it was almost done that it wasnt going to find anything but the loading bar isnt accurate. ill post the log when its finished

Heres the log file:

C:\Users\Will\AppData\Local\Temp\BetterInstaller.exe a variant of Win32/Somoto.A application
C:\Users\Will\AppData\Local\Temp\MyBabylonTB.exe Win32/Toolbar.Babylon application
C:\Users\Will\Desktop\ProductKeyFinder.exe a variant of Win32/Somoto.A application
C:\Users\Will\Downloads\ProductKeyFinder.exe a variant of Win32/Somoto.A application

The last two is a program i just installed...

I'm at work now, but manually delete those files and see isn't there is any difference. Be careful downloading programs like that, they tend to riddled with malware. I have a feeling that your system is just corrupted after the update which happens too often.

Well i deleted them and rebooted to no avail. im assuming now the only thing left to do would be to get a fresh install of windows on here no? and there is a format option on the windows 7 cd?

There is yes. But what I would do is download and run killdisk on it so it totally wipes it clean and then install Windows.

Well i installed windows and now its still boot looping when i go to boot normally..? It installs well, but after i install the nvidia drivers and restart it, the computer doesnt even make it to the loggin screen. ps, while whipeing the drive i had a friends hard drive in, and when i got back i got a blue screen telling me that windows had been shut down to keep the computer from harming itself. does that mean my hard drive is bad?

yes i had my friends hard drive in and booted to it. and ill do one tommorow morning and update this post.

Thats a bad thing to do there. It can and most likely will screw up his installation when he puts it back into his system. Any particular reason you did that?

My ignorance, i figured that with that program going it couldnt be on the hard drive it was deleting stuff off of. i just talked to him he said everythings good, so ill be sure not to do that again >.< and ill run that diagnostic soon.

Hard drive passed the test.. so what else could it be? it boot loops after the windows symbol...
