black screen of death

ok i just got a samsung 32'' tv that i hooked up to my toshiba qosmio via HDMI cable and as soon as the connection is made the screen goes totally black...what gives anyone have some advice

well i dont know if its the same with what youre doing butttt, when I change my ps3 to hdmi, you have to change the resolution settings on the ps3 before itll work, maybe you have to change the resolution settings on the pc?

just a guess :/
