Black screen startup

Hi, I recently installed DesktopX a Stardock application, which I didn't find to my liking so I uninstalled it... ever since, each time I start up my pc the following happens:

  1. normal boot up
  2. sign in to my account
    • my normal desktop background is gone
      [*]its now a black background
      [*]my documents window appears
[*]NOTHING else happens... no taskbar... pressing windows logo key doesn't bring up menu... no nothing

What I have to do to fix this, is to:

  1. bring up the task manager (thru ctrl+alt+delete)
[*] choose to run a new task ''explorer.exe''
    [*] TADA...

just THEN do I get a normal boot of my desktop, applications, taskbar, etc...

I used spybot to check which applications ran when i started my system, none that I didn't have before... Should I scan my system for viruses or something? This really pisses me off, starting my system and having to do a whole drill to make it start correctly.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Esc ... New Task ... msconfig ... tools tab ... System Restore ... That will fix the problem due to a bad uninstall of DesktopX which changes the way your explorer boots when logging in...

Hope that helps.

Ooh, that was nice. Thanks man that really helped. Not like I did much in 2 days, which was the date I choose for the restore point.
