Black Screen???

Today i rebooted my computer for a first time in a long time and when it started up the screen was black but i could still hear the start up sounds from windows.

Any have an idea of whats going on with my computer???

Driver???

What is the video card??? PCI E video card or is it on the mobo???
 
You mean it's a black screen? like a screen that's black after u start up ur comp? does the computer ever completely load up? what do u mean u can 'hear' windows start up? the windows start up sounds? idk how but if thats true its just probaly a loos cable or maybe its time for a reseat of ur vid card.
 
As in i turn it on and all i get is a black screen no splash screen no logon screen no windows screen but i do hear the start up sounds and i already did a reseat and checked cables and all. But nothing...
 
do you have a different graphics card you could try? i would assume that is the problem. also try restarting, and maybe a different monitor. it *could be a resolution incompatibility (but probably not).
 
I'll remove the ATI HD2400 graphics card and just connect the integrated graphics card to see if any comes up on the screen. But the last thing i installed was vmware workstation to run xp then i rebooted and got nothing but a black screen.
 
Ok nevrmind i'm at work right now and my wife calls and tells me that she booted up the machine and suddenly its working. Wierd its probably the house cause its possessed with ghosts/demons or something.
