The new Maxwell cards are speculated to offer a tad more performance, but what catches every eye more is the rumor that they would become much cheaper opposed to the pricing levels currently seen with the 780 series. This in itself would be a good change as prices of the 7** Series GPU's are soaring high and burning a hole in wallets.

Reports also indicate that there will be one 20nm Maxwell product later in 2014, though that could be the GTX 880 we likely think it would be the mid-range segment product as 20nm is creating a big can of worms in terms of yields from the looks of things. The road towards 20nm has always been viewed as a complex one. Rumours suggested that AMD could be the first to launch 20nm GPU's but by the looks of it Nvidia seems to be closer to it. Or could AMD pull one out of the bag and shock us with the first 20nm GPU. Only time will tell as we gear up for more action between both companies and witness which of them will release the first ever 20nm GPU.

All speculations, fabs have to produce and vendors have to sell the huge amounts of 700 series. This is something we'll see in 2015. Long time to go!

TMSC already started producing the 20nm process, there have also been some indications that nvidia is testing their first cards already. Some people picked up a shipping note pointing to the gm2xx cards that'd be shipped to Nvidia's testing labs in India.

However, it's highly unlikely that new Maxwell cards will be available on the retail market before the bitter end of 2014.

i imagine the price point of the 880 will be right where the 780 was, then it will drop as demand goes down, along with other product releases; 500 bucks.

Im betting it will be a 28nm chip.

There were some problems with the production process around March I think. Nvidia was pretty angry on them. Anyway, it seems like more shipping data has been spotted, so I think the production is back to running now:
