Blank Drop Down Menu in Vista Explorer

Hello, I have recently upgraded from Vista Home Premium x86 to Vista Home Premium x64. One thing that I noticed and that I find very annoying is that the drop down menu in Windows Vista x64 Explorer is empty/blank. I have tried editing all the folder view options and I have found no help online and Microsoft is trying to charge $59 per email support! (Cheap bastards) Can someone PLEASE help me correct this bug. When I click on the "down-arrow" all the way on the right-hand side of the windows vista explorer drop-down menu, all of the folders are missing from where they used to be. This problem also persists in many other menu options which show the same drop-down menu option, such as searching. I need to fix this, please! Thanks,

~Tim

P.S. - I have a picture of the problem I'm receiving, but I don't know how to upload it.

Is this a recent install? You probably saw a bad install of Windows where something didn't go on fully if you simply tried replacing the other edition without seeing the drive reformatted. Every so often if you install and reinstall Windows you'll have a time when something won't be right forcing you to even delete the existing primary to see a new one with a total fresh start.

If you are talking about not seeing the list of programs when clicking on Start>Programs then a bad install is what happened. You may want to start backing anything up you currently have on the drive since the steps mentioned above are likely going to be needed to see a working copy of that edition go on.

Yeah... That's what I was afraid of... I'm going to redownload all my install programs and make a complete format of the drive. Anyone know how I do that? I think I just insert the Vista disc before bootup and then there should be an option for formatting the drive. Thanks for your help.

You tend to see this with XP more then with Vista for the most part unless you have a bad dimm or simply need a len cleaner or new cable for the optical drive. But with the new version you now have to see a full reinstall no longer having the option for the repair install method.
