K for those that think Valves Software Steam is the cats ass this one is for you. Steam sucks!!!

I knew it where a matter of time before it pissed me off again :). Here I am I just installed Half Life 2 after reformatting my Hard drive and the Valve servers are too busy at the moment to unlock my files. When you buy a game this is frigging silly. I'm going to write a nasty email next to valve. This certainly is not fair is it? you tell me :). Give me your opinion on Valves lovely software steam.

F*CKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already wrote a nasty email to 'em about how if you buy a single player offline game that you should be able to play it offline but noooooooooooooooooooo.... I know that Steam was meant to but down on piracy but c'mon this is ridiculous. Really, steam HAS TO GO....

you are sooo right I HATE STEAM too!!!! I hate that you cant play offline. Twice steam has said CSS wasnt installed and it installed it for me but luckily it was real quick(like few seconds)...

Its a STEAMing pile of sh!t ;). I mean, i like the fact that you cant re sue a cd key, but thats it. Other then that its pointless.

you can play off-line...as long as you have it installed you can play offline, I used to play CS:CZ:DS off line, since our internet was down

CS CZ was meant to beplayed offline w/out steam. It says you can with HL2, but that is a load of bs.

Its a lot more hassle than its worth. admittidly ive not had any problems with it but its one hellava piece of time consuming software. i like it when you can just install your software and get on with playing it when you want, not when you're told you can. i'm lucky that i have broadband and the process isn't that painful but i feel for those that dont have it.
and if they're intent on running software like this you would at least thought they'd make sure they wouldn't get problems with busy server.... idiots.

Well you have to be online to unlock the files in order to play for the first time. Which is total crap.

whats so bad about it

I like Steam...

I like not needing to have CD's to install (i usually download all of my games overnight and there done). Not to mention you get alot more updates and newer maps, and ifn you go to a friends house you can download and install the games there.

Yea I understand what your saying... But you cannot argue that it's much easier to throw a CD/DVD in the drive and install rather then download all night and much longer for some. Also What about the poor guy that cannot afford the Internet? he has to carry his computer to a friends house to hook up to the Internet to unlock his files then lug the darn thing home again :). Also lets hope the poor fella has a friend let alone one with High speed LOL.

so what cs shoud i buy the Counter Strike Anthology or the one with DOD and other stuff

I'm not sure myself. Never really played CS.

Anthology has DOD.........if your talking about whether to get HL2(comes with CS: S and HL: DM) , or CS Anthology(comes with CS:S, DOD:S and HL: DM) depends on if you want HL2 or DOD. or get HL2 then DOD:S for $20 via Steam.

well i like that about it too, and that you can get different mods from steam also which is better than trying to find it or not not knowing of a great mod.

All games you can get though steam you cn also get at your local game store(except third party games, and i think rag doll kung fu), and you can just install that way, without even using steam, although then you cant get new updates and have to play the oldest verson, its still possible.

which is exactly part of the annoyance he is talking about.

Not to mention us with dial-up can't play it. i mean, jebus, there has never been a problem with using cd's and dvd's why start dowload only? i mean even people with high speed have problems downloading the game ect. ect.

no u can't play hl2 or css w/o getting steam. when installing, it requires you to have steam so you can unlock the game while registering the cd key. also I think it even says steam required on the hl2 box.

sry if the post is weird b/c I'm using my sk2 to post
