Blu-ray ROM from laptop not working on PC

Hi All,
I have a BD-ROM I took from a laptop and conected it to my PC using a SATA to USB adapter.
The PC (Win10) recognizes the drive.
But when I insert a disc into the drive (music, dvd, bluray), the disc is not recognized and windows says the drive is empty and I need to insert a disc.

What may be the problem? Where can I start looking for a solution?

Check device manager to make sure driver is installed .correctly and there is no error code.

To add to the troubleshooting step, what laptop did it come from?

There are no errors in the device manager, and it seems the most up to date driver is installed

it came from a Sony Vaio laptop, the BD-ROM model is: BC-5500S
