If I remember correctly, someone said this before to you, but I believe it requires restating: Do you have any clue what the hell you're talking about? First off, DVD's are capable of dual 4.7 GB layers, whereas Blu-ray discs are currently capable of eight (roughly) 25 GB layers. Blu-ray readers use highly focused blue-violet lasers (If you've ever had a science class you should know, blue/violet light has a much smaller wavelength than red light, which is used in DVD lasers), which means that they can pack the data in tighter; meaning that there's much more storage space. Now, you claimed that the transfer rate of DVD is faster than that of Blu-ray...how to phrase this...uhhh..Hell no. DVD-ROM has a transfer rate of 11.08Mbps, whereas HD-DVD-ROM and Blu-ray both have a transfer rate of just over 36mbps. Unless you managed to horribly fail second grade math, I think you can see that your statement was waaaay off.
I reiterate; Do you have any clue what the hell you're talking about? I would've thought that after the last time you got called on the carpet for this you would've actually read up on the subject so that you don't make the same mistake. Before you post anything on Blu-ray again, READ ABOUT BLU-RAY! You have no clue what you're talking about! I hate to be harsh with people, but before you comment on something like Blu-ray, or any other upcoming technologies, you need to understand what you're talking about.
Now, to answer the initial post, I do beleive that blu-ray will be cracked, just not as easily/quickly as DVD was (well...DVD wasn't technically "cracked", per se, but, you know what I mean). Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, the quicker, the better. I'm a good little eudaimonistic boy, so all my movies and the sort are legit to begin with. I just want to be able to create backups, store movies on my computer, and all that fun stuff.
