Blu-Ray vs HD DVD

I know HD DVD is being discontinued, but I want to know which is better quality. I've been told that Blu-Ray is better quality because it has a faster laser and I read that it has 36-48 megabits per second and can max out at 54 sometimes, while HD DVD is only 36 megabits per second.

I don't care about storage, price, etc. I want to know the quality information to decide.

1st gen HD dvd did not support 1080p, only 1080i but the second gen HD DVD drives support it fully. and all HD dvd's are natively 1080p.

Is not being discontinued. It is discontinued and why would you even think of using it any more. How would you read the information later on if your player breaks down.

I believe what he means is that fewer and fewer studios are producing movies on HD-DVD's, they are going with ordinary DVD's or Blu-Ray.

1 reason? Xbox 360's. they work great with the HD DVD's...

too bad they arent making many any more, i was really rooting for HD DVD's

360 only plays HD's with the adapter drive which they don't make any more. No one makes any new product as of 5/31/08 and many gave up many moths ago.
