Blu-ray writer requirements

Hi all, new to the forum (as is obvious from this being my first post lol) and looking for some advice.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530s, which currently has a DVD writer installed. I would like to swap this out for a Blu-ray writer but as the computer is about 4 years old now im not sure if it can 'handle' the change up.

I havent made any mods to it apart from installing a second hard drive. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Due 2.00GHZ and has 3GB's of RAM installed, just throwing out these specs incase they're important.

Any advice, as mentioned, is greatly appreciated. :good:

Thanks for that, exactly what I was looking for. I seem to have most of the requirements but the processor is 2.0 rather than the 2.4 minimum required.
Will that make much difference in the quality of movies?
...and in the recording files process?

I don't know, you will just have to have your fingers crossed. I made a mistake of installing a BluRay Rom on a single core P4, 2.53 GHZ, and HD Movies were so choppy and slow they were unviewable.

I then moved the Rom to a 2.5 GHZ, Dual Core CPU, and things worked well. I got a Quad Core 3 GHZ CPU to drop in that computer, but have not got around to it yet.

I also have a Dual Core 2.0 GHZ Desktop, but never tried the Blu Ray Rom in it. I can play HD movies though that I ripped at a medium 720P resolution, but have never tried to play a full 1080 P Resolution. The Computer is not really used much for video viewing.
