Blue screen ahh!

Hello!

Laptop: Acer Extensa 5235

I am hoping I can get help here please... with blue screen of death problems I always usually do a system restore but for this matter, it is annoyingly different because it does not matter what system recovery I use or any alternative method, I will always get the blue screen of death... :mad:

1) Tried around 5 system recovery discs whether it'll be XP or Win 7, BSoD occurs when the system restore starts up.

2) I then tried wiping all sectors from the hard drive, restarted and now there is no operating system but still BSoD came up when I attempted to run the recovery process again.

3) There is no reason for this failure, I had no known viruses it just occurred for no apparent reason. And it's a laptop... I need new hard disk ?!

I VERY ANNOYED :mad:

No you don't understand, my issue is more serious than this because the BSoD is from my laptop which doesn't even have an operating system installed, I wiped out all sectors and still BSoD. What does this suggest?

This suggests that you don't have an operating system installed.

You are saying that you get this BSOD when trying to boot from a recovery CD or somesuch?

You might try running memtes86+ to verify your RAM.
 
At this point, the only thing I can think of is that you need the sata controller driver. Are you using the recovery cd that was made for that laptop? If not, then thats your problem. And if you aren't using the recovery cd designed for that laptop, it won't work anyway.

Ohh that makes a bit of sense, yes I had BSoD during and after operating system.
But I don't want to use that CD because it is Windows 7, XP will operate faster...

Where I can get the recovery disk ? extensa 5235 recovery disk I lost mine :(

But XP pre-SP3 doesn't have native SATA drivers, as I recall.

You have to hit, what F5?, and have teh drivers handy, or slipstream them into XP and make a new disc.
 
This is a free laptop from government which has Windows 7 Microsoft Office suite and soo many more applications pre-installed and many running processors and it is slow as anything because of this...

I want Win XP clean install only my applications and it'll be fast but you are saying I can't have ? :(

Yes I can only get into BIOS, everytime I turn on PC it will load Gateway recovery process then BSoD. This laptop came with no CD because it has an in-built recovery system to which I tried restoring to earlier point as the only option but there was problems with each one that is when I decided to wipe the hard disk completely but no recovery disks will even load the recovery menu.

Anything I can do please?? :mad::mad::mad::mad::(:(:(:(:(
 
I think Windows 7 was preinstalled on this machine correct? If it was, my advice is to contact acer and get the windows 7 recovery cd's and reinstall it. I've checked acer's website and this laptop was shipped with windows 7. I doubt XP will install on this and if it does, some of the hardware may not support XP.
 
If this was supplied by the UK Government the BIOS is normally locked.

Can you get into the BIOS and change the boot order? If so, I am on the wrong track!!

I know the software that you are on about (assuming you are in UK) and it can be a right beach to get off.

Yes it was pre-installed. I honestly thought any recovery disk can be used just like all my previous desktop computers are compatible with...

No BIOS is not locked, I was able to enable the F12 boot menu from there and can boot from any CD. As the recovery processors initiates the BSoD appears. I just find it hard to believe that I need to use the factory/manufacturer recovery disk that was not even supplied.

If I use any Windows 7 recovery disk will it work?
 
The recovery cd's aren't supplied anymore basically since there is a recovery partition on the hard drive itself. You are required to make the recovery cd's yourself after buying the laptop. You probably have deleted the recovery partition so you will now need to contact acer for recovery cd's so you can reinstall windows.

And no, you can't use any windows 7 recovery cd. You need to use the one that was designed for that laptop as the hardware is different from any other laptop.

I can't use my laptop for days then! :mad:

From many years experience with desktop computers in particular, I was always able to use any recovery disk this is why I am bit dubious. But if you say so...

Are you guys 100% certain I MUST use a specific recovery disk ? I keep trying to contact Acer with no luck.

EDIT:

Guys I urgently need laptop tomorrow, any assistance highly appreciated. I am sure there is a way to use it now?
