I was given a PC to work, i have a brand new hard drive and when i am installing windows i get the dreaded blue screen. It reads something about hardware. I noticed that the motherboard connection for a the Video is missing. there is a empty spot where the connection should be. Now i know this PC has worked cause it was working when i got it. Now its the only thing that keeps me from finishing my work with it. is there a BIOS/CMOS setting i can change to make this boot up? PLEASE HELP! Thanks is advance.

The question now is do you have a video card installed in either a PCI, AGP, or PCI-Express slot if the board isn't damaged too far? The make and model information on the system board would also help here.

The connector missing is for the onboard video that the board is apparently equipped with. When first starting up the system you will see the option to enter the bios setup program. The first screen in most bioses is for time and date settings. Often the second section is the advanced chipset. The third on some boards is for the pci devices.

In there the option to choose from onboard to an expansion card is highlighted and then you press the Enter key to make the selection there. With an expansion card(PCI, AGP, or PCI-E) you won't have anything to work with in order to set it correctly.
