Blue Screen of Death

Damn blue screens of death! My mom and I just moved from California to Florida and as I was setting up her computer I received a blue screen of death. I restarted the computer and received the same thing. The only things hooked up to it are the screen, speakers, and wireless keyboard and mouse. It is the exact same stuff that was hooked up before we moved. I'm not sure if it is a hardware problem. Is it possible that the hard drive was corrupted from being shaken to much in the move? Sorry for the low quality pics, they are from my phone. Thanks for the help in advance.

Geek Squad wanted 230 dollars to fix anything operating system related so I would like to avoid that.
 
I would imaging that something was rattled loose during the move which is very common. Remove the side and reset all your Pci, agp, pci-express etc. cards. Also don't forget to power off the machine before doing so and if there is a switch on the psu then switch it to the off position.

Oh yes, You could not have currupted the data on your hard drive by shaking it.
 
Check and make sure the CPU heatsink and fan haven't fallen off. An overheating processor can give you this error. Another possible cause of this error is bad RAM. Make sure it's fully seated and test it in another system to verify it is operational.
 
Thanks for the help guys. It can't be overheating because it occurs at the exact same place during start up. I think it's the hard drive but I'll check all of the cards.
 
if it happens in the same place, that could either be a hard drive problem or a heatsink/fan problem. If its overheating, the reason it wouls give you that message in the same place could be becuase it's where the OS is loading and is using alot of cpu usage, which would cause it to overheat. I bet its a hard drive problem though, but theres no harm in checking.
 
one or more of your RAM is probally bad.


I had the same error, and after checking every possible connection I found the RAM to be the problem.

i would probably think that one of your hardware was rattled and something fell loose or the vibration just damaged it.

Not only should you switch of the PSU, but take out all the cables connecting the comp to anything else...including screen, mouse, etc. its always better. Oh and when you open the computer, touch the side panel with one hand, and the ground with the other...you have now minimised the risk ok electrostatic energy with the destructive power of frying your pc parts. Now go over all the cables, making sure everything seems fine.
Then try again and post to us.
