Blue Screen of Death :/

So my grandparents installed the newest version of IE (9 I believe..) and they called me over to check to see whats wrong with the computer. Everytime I boot up a blue screen comes up stating the following (verbatim) :

-------------------------------
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop serror screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue disable or remove any newly inbstalled hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or sahdowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x0000C1F5 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

---------------------------

I've tried to get into the Advanced Boot Options using F8, but it won't open. I managed to open it once, but haven't been able to since. I've tried about 10-11 times.

Any time I get to the startup screen I have the following options. Esc for the boot menu, which brings up both "HDD Group - Raid-0 : ST3320820AS, and CD-ROM Group - 3rd Master: TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-H652M"

I've tried to boot from both of them, which brings me to a screen allowing me to choose from "Launch Startup Repair, or Start Windows Normally." After I select either of those, windows starts loading files, and the blue screen appears once again.

Another option I have from the startup screen is F10 for setup. I AM able to pull up this option. I selected from there the Boot menu in which I moved the HDD to the first priority boot option. Tried to boot, same thing. Blue screen.

The last option I have on the startup screen is F11 for system recovery, however I can't access this option either.

Any help guys? I've tried everything I know how..

Do you have the vista install cd? You can do a repair install by booting to it to get into the system recovery options and do a system restore.

No, but i'm in a networking class at school and I'm going to use one from my professor. It won't be the same CD that was used to install the OS, but it will be a vista CD. However, this is my first time on their cpu and I don't know what edition of Vista it is. Is there a way to figure that out?

If this is a store bought pc then its gonna be an OEM version either vista basic or vista home premium. What is the make and model of pc?

It's definitely a store bought PC. I know it's an HP, but since I've left my grandparents, I can't retrieve that info.

Sorry! I'll just make sure to get a Vista Basic, and Home Premium from him. Can I repair it with a different disc though? Meaning, since it's not the disk that the OS was installed from, can I use a different one to repair it?

JohnB35, what I think i'll do is just take out the HDD, upload it to another machine, install Win 7 on the original machine and reinstall the data. I've asked a few people and they've all said that they think it's the OS thats messing up, not hardware. So that was a possible solution. Have anything better to add? I couldn't get my hands on a disc, not to mention it's an OEM version of the OS so I can't be certain if it'll work to repair.

Thanks for the options and help!
