Blue Screen Of Death

Sorry, not sure if this is the right section, but im just wondering, is a virus capable of causing the Blue Screen Of Death...or is that only caused by hardware issues....?
 
Thanks! thats all i needed to know, been getting them a lotttttt latley, was hoping nothing was wrong with my hardware cuz i recently upgraded my GFX (X1950pro :D) and to 1GB RAM, but i done a last known Good configeration thingy, everything seems to be going fine now..
 
bad video drivers usually cause windows not to boot at all

maybe they're just outdated?

windows xp is a pita, can't wait for vista
 
ok, this still happens, i just formatted it and it just done it once so far, so it could be the way i installed my video drivers?

And i'll write down the number of it too (if it happens again)
 
OK it happened again, i got recently got 1GB DDR ram i wrote the long number that says under Technical something, this is what it says

***STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X8054B909, 0XF78CEA4C, 0X00000000)

i searched it in google and nothing came up...

someone help pleeasee
 
It is a memory error it can occur when a program references an incorrect memory address, causing your computer to crash.

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows XP a supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft.

If that dont fix your problem you might have a bad stick of RAM...do you have another stick you can try for a while to see if that is the problem?
