Blue Stop Error When Shutting Down

Today I recieved a Compaq Machine from courier from ebay and when i was shutting it down tonight, the following error came up with a blue background and white writing:


***Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware Vendor
NMI Parity Check/ Memory Parity Error
***The system Has halted

does anyone know what had happened?

Hardware error, obviously

Try testing out each stick of RAM, CD ROM, graphics card. Can you boot into the OS? If you can't, try a different hard drive.
