Bluetooth

I am wondering if anyone knows of hardware that can receive a bluetooth signal from a laptop and complete another action, such as turn on a light or activate an alarm. I work at a fire department which presently uses two communication systems, one for alarm activation and one for information. We would like to go to one system for both needs.

Not sure if they sell Bluetooth appliances that perform those functions. But I do know they sell WIFI based devices that can control devices.

Keep in mind that these devices use an App meant for a tablet or smartphone. You don't need cell service for the smartphone, but you will want a WIFI connection to install the APP.
