Board question

I am running an ASUS A7N8X-X. This si basically the most basic board of it's time in ASUS.

The board does not have dual channel capability, but, I have heard of some accounts where people bought, lets say, 1 gig (2x512) and they said they board recognized the full 1 gig, but not in dual channel.

What I am asking is, if I got a set of Hyper X 2 gig (2 x 1gig) RAM, would I be able to use this? Meaning, is it true that it will register both sticks as just one memory, and cause no problems?

What? Dual channel or not, if you install two sticks of RAM in a computer, it'll register the whole amount
