boot issues ..help

Hi, i have just built my forth computer, and after installing windows it works fine, for a while. But after installing all drivers, i always get a problem on a reboot.

first it was

hal.dll missing, which could not be fixed in the recovery console, so i had to re-format, and start again. I realized the problem here was that the disk which held the motherboard drivers on had a form of DOS on, and then this confused the boot.ini file.

However, now after my third reinstall, and just finsished installing everything, i get ntldr missing, however, i also cannot fix this, it seems that non of the operating system files are there either, well it says access is denied, when trying to copy.

any ideas ?

On each install attempt did you format the drive? And also are you running XP of Vista? x32 or x64? Is the drive partitioned? It is strange that there would be no system files on the drive after a fresh re-install. I suppose i would just try a full low level format(may take awhile but oh well) and then a full fresh re-install.

right, its XP 32 bit,

and it does work for a while its just after about 4 restarts, it just seems to lose the files, each time i re install, i go for a complete format too, takes time with a 500gb hard drive.

right, i may have got too the bottom of it at last, it seems upon installation of the

Marvell 61xx Raid Driver V1.2.0.60

it causes the problem, so what i am going to do is to download the earlier version, which only contains the sata driver, and as i do not intend to install a RAID system, this will not be a problem... i will confirm whever that is it in a while, just going to try it now.
