Boot Issues!

HELP! I recently formatted and since then I've had issues. All I've done is ran partition magic and created a small partition in addition to the main partition.

Basically, when i boot up, it tries the floppy, the cd, then the HD, and when it tries the HD it just stops....a failure message.

so...I've formatted it via a usb link to my other computer and put it back in my desktop. Same problem!

so...I ran the xp disk on the newly formatted HD, and it does what it needs to do, then restarts --> at this point it would usually boot to XP branded software to setup windows bits and pieces...instead it just runs the CD again, and goes through the process of installing windows! So, as far as i can see, it boots from the CD to load winxp, then restarts, then boots from CD again, missing the HD.

I've tried another cable, with no luck, and check jumpers etc....

ANY IDEAS? PLEASE HELP!

Thats only if it is SATA...

Did this just stop working, and you are trying to get it working?
 
Stopped working after i rebooted after running partition magic.

Initial problems arose when i reinstalled windows and it only detected 137GB of the 250 gb HDD due to winXP not having either service pack installed.

So after that, when i fixed that problem, i used partition magic and since have this current issue.

The HDD def works as i can access it via usb on another comp, but the comp just wont boot it! I'm now getting errors stating that "ntldr is missing" which im lead to believe is the boot info? So when i run the windows disk, it does all the installing to fix this, restarts, then does this process all over again.....it just wont boot the HDD for some reason.

Tried different cables, and ide ports but no luck......

To add to this, I've just noticed that it cant be probs with cables etc, as after installing the new installation of windows, I can now view all the windows files when conencting it to my other comp via usb....

So it's just the booting of the HDD that's the issue by the sounds of it....

please someone helpppppppp meee! This is a nightmare!
 
Check Bios Settings

After your done using the disk to formatt and copy the files over go to bios and set the HDD as the first boot device. I don't know if this will work, but its worth a try. If that doesn't work try and get ahold of a windows xp disk with service pack two built in although I don't know if your current product key will work.
